What's in a Name?

The story of Sennia(pronounced-sen'-nee-ah with a very clear 'sen' NOT sin' nee ah) . When Matt was living in North Jersey and I was by myself I listened to all the Amelia Peabody books one after another and they really got me through it all. Sennia is a character in one of those books. I loved the name, I thought it was beautiful read with the English accent Barbara Rosenblatt used. I wanted Brig...s to be a girl so he could be Sennia:) So I've been waiting for my little Sennia for all this time. I knew she'd come. I wrote Elizabeth Peters and asked her about the name because you can't really find it anywhere. She wrote me a lovely post card and said "'Sennia' is my version of the Arabic name Sania which means 'high' or 'noble'. Couldn't be a better name for a wonderful little girl. Congratulations!"
So that's how you pronounce it and that's where I got the name. I hope you all fall in love with it like I did but if you don't it's ok:) We think it fits our little girl perfectly.

  2. Keep that post card somewhere safe. I think it is so exciting she wrote you back. I am still jealous ;) she is so beautiful. I can't wait for more pictures. I told Matt when you were in the hospital that she needed to have dark skin and hair so she would fit her name and she did. It couldn't be more perfect for her. She reminds me of Eli too.
